A snapshot of a mysterious Motorola handset has been spotted in the wild with the Verizon logo on it. It is most probably Motorola Droid 2 a.k.a ‘Shadow’ Android phone supposed to launch on Verizon in July with Froyo.

Rumors have been flying around for a Motorola device called Motorola Droid Shadow which is supposed to be the successor of Motorola Droid. That’s why some people have named it ‘Droid 2′. We know neither Motorola nor Verizon will comment on ‘rumors and speculation’ but of the times these rumors prove themselves to be true. So we assume that Motorola’s next Android gadget will be called shadow. It is supposed to rock with an 8MP camera capable of capturing 720p HD video. Motorola Shadow – as far as we know- will be launched with Android Froyo on it. On Hardware front, a 512MB RAM, a 4.3inch 800×484 capacitive multitouch screen, and an HDMI port are most likely to appear. If Shadow is really droid’s successor then I would predict a slide-out QWERTY keyboard as well.

The news once rumored in the air that Motorola Shadow might be the next Google branded phone so it is very much likely for us to see the Nexus two in the form of Motorola Shadow.

Previously we saw some renderings trying to depict Motorola Shadow as a friendlier looking Droid but now we seem to have a snapshot. Well, it is a snapshot of a snapshot printed on a user guide.

We also have some news of having a Texas Instruments OMAP 3630 Processor on the gadget, a specialized version on Motoblur with Blur community chat and a 1080p video output via HDMI port.

Motorola Shadow is supposed to be nearly 9mm thick and might hit the markets in July. So there’s not much to wait for. Fingers crossed!

Fyi this phone and droid 2 are not the same phone, expect the droid 2 to be similar to the original but be ‘updated’ in looks etc….

This phone has a larger screen and same processor as the current droid, droid to will likely have the same screen size as the original droid and will once again have a full keyboard unlike this phone,,,,

Don’t you mean successor not predecessor? Unless this phone was supposed to come out before the Motorola Droid. In any case, I’m looking forward to the Droid 2 and Shadow to be released soon. Was going to get the HTC Incredible until I heard about this. I hope we won’t have to wait too long.

  3. one can get a fast net acces through this phone and because of large screen it will be more clear to access fastly,,its a best choice for the net suvvy’s

  4. The Motorola DROID continues to present new possibilities daily. We’ve had it for about 10 months and I’ve had a Blackberry attached to my system given that September 1998. Becoming connected is really a essential portion of my existence so I’m generally reachable by family and co-workers. I’m a bit addicted on the Current market for DROID Applications. When the device had unlimited memory I would check the capacity. I believe this OS could be the way in the long term and intend to grow with all of you to know it via and by means of. Thanks for the article.

  5. While I like a bodily keyboard, after handling the Samsung Captivate for roughly quarter-hour, it is laborious to go back. At this time I’m debating whether or not to visit Verizon for the Droid X, pass to Sprint for the EVO, or stick with AT&T for the Captivate…choices, decisions.
