Nokia Booklet 3G
In all this netbook rush, every other company is getting in. In fact gadgets are converging. Mobile phones and computers have now less differences in them. Computers are becoming more and more portable and mobile phones are getting more and more features that computers have. In this sense, Nokia’s Netbook, “Booklet 3G” is a leap. It adds all the connectivity options of a latest mobile phone to a netbook. This new gadget by Nokia has got a 3G/HSPA, hot-swappable SIM card along with the traditional connectivity options of wi-fi and bluetooth. It has also a GPS built-in.
From the promotional video it looks gorgeous in the Aluminium body. The 10.1 inch HD display and HDMI output are really nice things for a netbook to have. Amazingly, it is only 0.783 inches thick. Thus a little thicker than Macbook Air which is 0.76 inches. Wow! Netbook 3G is one of the thinnest netbooks! Battery life of this cool new gadget is promised to last for 12 hrs and it weighs only 1.25kgs. I was not expecting it to be a Windows device but it will come pre-installed with Windows 7 and Nokia Ovi services. What else do I need???
More details about price and availability are subject to be announced at Nokia World 2009 on September 2. I can’t wait to know the price, I may be one of the early buyers.
As far as recent market is concerned, Booklet 3G is a nice release but Nokia should have planned of future. Market is already saturated with the netbooks, the next arrival in the market would obviously be a tablet. Nokia, why didn’t you release a tablet instead??
