World is moving towards the nano-ism. Earlier today, we reported that Disney is going to sell its movie title’s on the microSD cards. Now, we have the news that Intel will be releasing 34nm – thus world’s smallest – SSDs. These SSDs will not only be the smallest in size, also their manufacturing cost is lowered by 60%, as compared to the previous Intel 50nm SSDs.
These new arrivals in Intel storage gadgets will be available in 80 and 160GB capacities. Also the latency will be reduced by 25% because of a two-fold improvement in writing performance. The SSDs deliver 6,600 4kb write IOPS and up to 35,000 read IOPS. Pricing for the 80GB drives is $225 and the price for the 160GB drive is $440 in 1000 unit lots.
