HP mini 110

HP mini 110

HP mini 110 is nice, it is small, it is compact, it can do most of the things one can expect from a netbook. It is utra portable… all fine, I like that but couldn’t be a little better?

It has a 10.1″ display, Atom 1.6GHz CPU, 1GB memory, GMA 950, 3 USB ports, 5-in-1 card reader, 3 cell Li-ion battery, app. 1kg weight, all same as Acer Aspire One. Even the shape is so much similar to Aspire One. HP has enhanced some features though, like the increased keyboard size, HDD capacity, screen resolution etc. Unlike Aspire one, I really feel comfortable with with the 92% near-full-sized keyboard of HP mini. The point where Acer Aspire One has an edge is that it costs less than HP mini.

Come on HP, why not bring some innovation instead? Won’t it be a good idea to provide customers with a different experience instead of just bringing an Aspire One copy?

OK, you need to grab the market and don’t want to let others take it over, fine keep up with HP mini but bring some innovation too. What about a touch capable netbook or a tablet PC? Why not an NVIDIA Ion based netbook? What about an ARM based one? It would be perfect in my openion because netbooks need to be cheap rather than more functional. After all ARM can run Ubuntu, Android and many other Linux flavors with all the desktop utilities and an office suit. Beagleboard even has an HDMI port. I would definitely like to see an ARM based HP netbook with an innovative shape.

HP mini has a few things which are useful for netbook users like QuickWeb, HP cloud support and HP QuickSync but most of these things can be achieved with different softwares like splashdot as an alternative to QuickWeb. I rather expect a better hardware instead of the software in which HP doesn’t specialize.

What are your thoughts about HP mini? Would you prefer it over Acer Aspire One? Why not share your thoughts below in the comments section.

  1. Yeah that is the fact

  2. Here’s what I have to say: If I ever get a netbook, it’ll either be the Asus EeePC or the HP Mini.

Acer Aspire ONEs are just plain ugly.
