The Samsung Blue Earth is an attempt, by the phone company, to reach out to the growing number of environmentalist. And it is working, because I want one! The Blue Earth is made from a recycled plastic called PCM, or water bottle plastics. Also the phone is made WITHOUT the common toxic chemicals, brominated flame retardants, beryllium, and phthalates, found in many cell phones. On the back of the phone has a built in solar panel. The panels will drastically cut CO2 emissions by collecting power from the sun, not from a wall. With the solar panel on the back, you will be able to talk without too much worry about your phone running out of juice. Just try to keep the chatting down at night time. People are trying to sleep anyways! The being made from recycled plastics and the solar panels are great, but what I find the coolest feature on the phone is called the “eco mode.” The “eco mode” calculates the CO2 emissions saved by walking instead of driving by a built in pedometer. Now see an impact of walking straight from your phone. How bad do you want this phone?!?! Well there is a down side. It will be first release in the UK, another debbie downer to us green Americans. and come later to U.S markets… Yet again.
Another eco phone, by T-Mobile, is already being sold. Yes, in U.S Markets. Not as stunning as the Blue Earth, but it is something. It is called the Renew.
