Panasonic has announced its “iPod Merge” project which is subjected to allow the airplane passengers play their digital media stored on their iPods and iPhones on the display screens of the airplanes. Not much details know about how this thing will actually work. Will people be able to play their iPod stuff on the screens which are fixed in front of every passenger or it will be some other kind of screens. However, they will connect via the dock. It means that they will work on Apple’s new API that allows developers access the dock connector.

It is not yet clear that when will this service be available but it has been confirmed by Panasonic that Singapore, United, Avianica, Air New Zealand and Swiss airlines will be providing this service. Complete list of airlines is also not knwon yet!

We’ll have to wait a while but infact this will give a new meaning to air journey. I guess those displays will soon start playing your digital media from other gadgets too. Like this Adapter!
