We’ve seen a lot of cute iPad videos of kids, cats and even dogs goofing around with the device. But let’s get serious, shall we? the iPad might be a great device for non-geek users, but businesses may benefit from it as well. On Apple’s website, the device is said to be ready for business. Thanks to apps such as iWork, email and calendar.

Some Business applications vendors went even further: Meet “Roam BI“.
SAP BusinessObjects, one of the leaders of the Business Intelligence field, demoed lately “RoamBI“. Originally destined for the iphone, RoamBI has been one of the best mobile BI apps on the market. No surprise there, since SAP BO is huge on design (Excelsius is a great example).
Although many Other BI vendors have announced expanding to the iPad platform in their upcoming versions, it seems that RoamBI is the first to make it to the market, and the results are quite impressive.
I see great potential there for executives, who aren’t necessarily very keen on technologies and need their information on the go. I still wonder though if it offers any added-value compared to the iPhone. Bigger interface for sure but would it be enough to justify an iPad extra expanse for every Head of department of your enterprise?
