Kindle Development Kit Announced; Developers Can Release Free Apps But Can’t Put Ads In Them

By

Kindle DXAmazon is opening the active content app development to developers with the release of KDK – Kindle development kit. Programmers can develop apps for Amazon’s e-reader using this SDK. No, don’t compare it with the iTunes app store. Neither it has any resemblance with that nor Amazon is planning to beat that down. It is an all new market and we’ve not seen any app for e-readers yet.

The Kindle app store will have the same traditional revenue sharing model of 70:30 for developer and Amazon respectively. Developers can price their apps as well as release them free but they won’t be allowed to put ads in them.

‘E-ink’ is already famous for being too slow, also it is a black & white display. Guess what types of apps these would be?
