Acer had announced an Android netbook quite sometime back. But later, it announced to back roll the project so we we were not clear if an Acer Android netbook is coming or not. When Mtube II netbook was shown off running Windows XP as well as Android OS, the hope of an Android netbook strengthened.
Now Acer has once again confirmed that an Android netbook will be out in the third quarter of this year. Acer is world’s largest PC vendor. Its interest developed into the open source mobile operating system, Android, because of its huge popularity. A lot of gadgets started to come out with Android OS. We saw a chip set running Android OS, then Dell Mini officially running Android OS, then Mtube II.
MSI had also announced to release an Android based netbook but we have not seen any update from it. Let’s see, who wins the race of releasing an Android powered netbook first of all. We’ll expect more gadgets like tablets coming with Android support afterwards.
